What is Heroes On The Concho?

More than a WWII Veterans Memorial, Heroes on the Concho will stand as a lasting tribute to the men and women who answered the call of duty, defended freedom, and helped shape the community we are priviledged to live in today.  This memorial will help to ensure these legacies are preserved for generations to come by listing WWII Veterans from San Angelo and the surrounding area.

Where is the memorial located?

The memorial and statuary is nestled along the banks of the Concho River across from McNease Convention Center.  Our hope is when people walk along the Concho River, they will encouter not only a beautiful memorial, but a sacred reminder of courage, sacrifice, service and freedom.

Is the memorial completed?

Heroes on the Concho broke ground on June 6, 2024, marking the beginning of this important community tribute. Following the dedication celebrating the unveiling of the Heroes on the Concho memorial on August 19, 2026, we remain committed to adding names as additional World War II veterans from San Angelo and the surrounding area are identified.

How can I ensure my loved one is recognized as part of this memorial?

We are working alongside various veterans organizations to collect names of the brave men and women from our area who served during WWII.  Due to the volume of service members, this will be an ongoing and tedious process.  If you would like to provide information regarding your loved one who served during WWII, please click here.
